A northwest Illinois student could face charges after making threats of a school shooting. The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office says they were notified about a threat made at the Jo Daviess Carroll Career Technical Education Academy in Elizabeth. Authorities say a faculty member got a threatening message on her work phone regarding a school shooting. The school was put on a soft lockdown while deputies investigated the threat. Once officials learned the person who made the threats was a student inside the CTE Academy, the school was placed on a hard lock down. Deputies detained the student and the lock down was lifted. The student was released to the custody of a parent while formal charges are pending through the county attorney’s office.
