School districts in the area, and across the nation, have been struggling with a social media trend. A viral Tik Tok challenge – called Devious Lick – encourages students to record themselves stealing, destroying or otherwise vandalizing school property. In a letter to parents, the Dubuque Community School District announced that several restrooms have had to be closed for repairs. District officials also say students caught participating in this behavior could face disciplinary action, legal action, and be forced to pay for damages. Parents are reminded to tell their children that actions like these have consequences.
