A woman from Peosta has been sentenced to two years of probation after she exposed her child to methamphetamine. 32 year old Nicole Hicks was given the sentence in Iowa District Court of Dubuque County after pleading guilty to a charge of child endangerment. Hicks initially was charged with child endangerment-meth exposure but pleaded guilty to the lesser-included charge. According to reports, an investigator responded to American Inn and Suites in Peosta on September 14th after receiving a report of a 1-year-old child being exposed to meth by her parents, Hicks and 34 year old Zachary Brenner. Hair samples of Brenner, Hicks and their child were sent to a lab and all tested positive for meth. The parents also admitted to using the drug. Brenner previously pleaded guilty to a charge of child endangerment-meth exposure in connection with the incident. He was sentenced to two to five years of probation.
