The Iowa Credit Union League has issued a warning about increases in text message scams. They state that these types of scams are known as “smishing.” Text messages that are part of these scams appear to be from an individual’s bank and try to obtain personal information, such as a bank account number. Misspellings, urgent requests and the need for specific information are signs of a potential scam.
