Family Advocates of Platteville has moved into their new shelter and are ready to welcome guests. In March of 2022 Family Advocates received a $3.5 million American Rescue Plan Act grant to build a new facility. The new facility boasts over 13,000 square feet of useable space and is fully accessible. Family Advocates Executive Director Darlene Masters says,
Family Advocates will be hosting a grand opening of their new facility tomorrow [Thurs. April 18]. There will be a short ceremony with a ribbon cutting at 4 PM followed by facility tours and light refreshments until 7 PM. If you wish to support Family Advocates and are unable to attend the grand opening Masters says there are plenty of items a shelter always needs, but consumable products such as toilet paper are easy items to donate.
Masters also mentioned Family Advocates is always in need of volunteers. There are plenty of opportunities both directly supporting clients or Maintenace needs a volunteer can assist with.
