Dubuque City Council members have scheduled a public hearing to receive public input on a plan to seek a federal grant to purchase two local mobile home parks. The council this week voted, 7-0, to set the hearing for Wednesday, May 29, to take feedback on the grant application. The city plans to request a $50.5 million grant that must be submitted to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development by June 5. If approved, funding would be used to purchase Terrace Heights Mobile Home Park and Table Mound Mobile Home Park through a community land trust that eventually would allow residents to own and maintain the parks. Funding also would be used to improve water, sewer and road infrastructure in the mobile home parks.
