A teenager accused of hitting and killing a seventh grade student who was waiting for the bus will enter a plea agreement. According to court records, 18-year-old Kevin Green of Platteville, will not go to trial. Instead, he and his attorneys agreed with prosecutors and victims to a “joint recommendation.” The specifics of the joint recommendation were not listed. A one hour plea/sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 31. Green is charged with homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle in the death of 13-year-old Evelyn Gurney. A criminal complaint stated Green hit Gurney in her driveway the morning of May 12, 2023. The complaint also said Green was going about 63 mph when he swerved, hit the bus, then hit Gurney. Cell phone data shows he was texting while driving before and during the crash.
