Dubuque County Conservation is offering Mowing to Monarchs pocket prairie tours this weekend. The tours will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, July 13, at various locations, according to an online announcement. Mowing to Monarchs is a program that provides resources and tools to private landowners to convert turf grass into a pollinator-friendly habitat. Since the program was established in 2020, nearly 400 landowners have converted over 26,000 square feet of turfgrass to what is defined as native pocket habitat throughout Dubuque County. The free tours will highlight sites that incorporate native plants, unique landscaping and good gardening practices.
