Dubuque Airport’s solar panels are operational

The City of Dubuque is celebrating the completion of the Dubuque Regional Airport’s $1.5 million solar array, which was installed this spring. The solar panels are now powering the airport’s terminal and lighting the parking lot. This renewable energy project is expected to drastically cut the airport’s electricity costs. Eagle Point Solar, a Dubuque-based company, led the installation as part of the city’s goal to cut 50% of its greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. 95% of the project was funded by federal grants through the bipartisan infrastructure law. The solar panels will supply 52% of the terminal’s annual electricity, and will save an estimated $22,000 for the airport in its first year.
