Eastern Iowa Excavating & Concrete Awarded Demolition Contract

The Dubuque City Council voted, 7-0, to award a demolition and grading contract for the old greyhound kennels to Eastern Iowa Excavating & Concrete of Cascade. The contract, for $820,000, comes about 20% under budget for a savings of $200,000. Eastern Iowa Excavating will be tasked with bulldozing the old dog kennels and grading the area to make way for amphitheater construction next spring, which will be awarded under a different contract. The demolition portion of the work has a total price tag of $1.3 million instead of $1.5 million, with $300,000 for the consultant design and about $200,000 for engineering and contingency costs.
