Tri-state area law enforcement gathered more than 230 pounds of medication to be destroyed in a nationwide drug take-back event. The Dubuque Drug Task Force, Area Substance Abuse Council and the Asbury Police Department worked in conjunction to collect old and unused prescription medications on Saturday as part of the Drug Enforcement Agency’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. A report states that during the event, 236.8 pounds of medication and 115.2 pounds of sharps were collected. Items gathered included both prescription and nonprescription medication, vitamins, supplements and syringes.
