A Dubuque man has been sentenced to eight years in federal prison after he was found in possession of a large amount of cocaine. 31-year-old Andrew St. John Pratt, recently received the sentence in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids after pleading guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s office for the Northern District of Iowa. The release states the charge stems from a 2023 search of Pratt’s home, where officers located distribution quantities of cocaine, cash, drug scales and a firearm. Pratt was barred from possessing the firearm due to a prior domestic abuse conviction. Pratt must serve four years of supervised release after his prison term. There is no parole in the federal system.
