Galena to allow open burning of yard waste 4 days this week

The city of Galena will hold an open burning period this week. Open burning of yard waste is only permitted during daylight hours on Thursday through Sunday according to an online announcement. Burning is prohibited on windy days with sustained gusts of 10 mph or more. Burning must be supervised at all times and a garden hose should be made available at the burn site if possible. Violations of the burn policy will result in a citation from the Galena Police Department.
