The Dubuque County Board of Supervisors approved a construction contract on Monday for the physical buildout of a new 911 communications center on the city’s West End. The new 911 center at the former Medline building addresses needs that have been stressed by area law enforcement and other emergency personnel for years. All told, the project is expected to cost $5.8 million, with the county budgeting $2.5 million of its allocation from the American Rescue Plan Act and the city of Dubuque paying another $2.5 million. The county received good news in learning that bids for the buildout of the 911 center’s physical space came in under budget. A $2.47 million bid by Conlon Construction was the winning bid. Much of the construction is expected to be competed in the coming months.
