Man pleads guilty to conspiracy to distribute drugs in Dubuque

A man has pleaded guilty in federal court to conspiring to distribute over 400 pounds of methamphetamine to a co-conspirator in Dubuque. 30-year-old Jose E. Aceves-Garcia of Guatemala, pleaded guilty Wednesday to conspiracy to distribute at least 500 grams of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine and 50 grams of pure methamphetamine, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa. In his plea agreement, Aceves-Garcia admitted he distributed at least 400 pounds of ice methamphetamine to a co-conspirator in the Dubuque area between January of 2019 and January of 2022. Aceves-Garcia also reportedly distributed a kilogram of heroin to the co-conspirator. Aceves-Garcia will be sentenced at a later date, though he faces a minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
