Enhancing and expanding Asbury’s recreational amenities are high priorities as city leaders plan for future growth and development. The city plans to seek firms to assess Asbury’s parks and develop a master plan that “addresses park improvement with an emphasis on park growth, utilization of open space, accessibility for all members of the city and future ongoing maintenance of facilities,” according to the city’s request for proposal. The Asbury Park and Recreation Board recently voted to table the request for proposal to add more details about what the city seeks to achieve with the master plan. An exact timeline for the master plan has not been set, though board members expressed interest in using the city’s annual summertime Music in the Park event as a time for obtaining public input.
