A Hiawatha man has been found guilty of human trafficking, sexual abuse, sexual exploitation of a minor, pimping, and prostitution. A jury on Thursday found Jarod Anderson guilty of all five counts against him. This is the first case of human trafficking involving a minor since a new law went into effect in 2023 increasing the penalty to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Police say Jarod Anderson and Tana Torres picked up a teenager from Dubuque, brought her to Cedar Rapids, and solicited her for sex in May 2024. A sentencing date still needs to be set. The judge indicated he was looking at a date of April 1st.
