Galena Police Department seeks participants for an upcoming Citizens’ Police Academy. The academy will run from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday nights for 11 weeks beginning April 17, according to an online announcement. Classes will be held at the Galena Police Department. The announcement states that in past years, topics discussed have included the telecommunications center and jail, investigations, crime scenes, courts and the criminal justice system, drugs, defensive tactics, the city’s ambulance force, K-9 units and more. To participate, an applicant must be 18 or older, have no felony convictions or significant arrest history, be of good character and live or work in the city of Galena or in the Galena Territory.
