Alabama court documents provide additional details on last month’s arrest of a former Platteville teacher on sexual solicitation charges. 48-year-old Owen Z. Strizic of Platteville, was arrested March 29 in Prattville, Ala., on charges of electronic solicitation of a child and traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act. Strizic had been employed as a music teacher at Platteville Middle and High schools, but resigned following his arrest. Alabama court documents state that Strizic’s arrest followed an undercover operation conducted by the Prattville Police Department. During the operation, an undercover officer posed as a 15-year-old child. Documents state that Strizic attempted to arrange a sexual act with two children during a chat exchange. Strizic then traveled to a hotel in Prattville and was arrested. Strizic is listed on an online roster of current Elmore County Jail inmates with a bond set at $90,000. Traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act is a class “A” felony in Alabama, punishable by life in prison or a definite term of 10 to 99 years. Electronic solicitation is a class “B” felony, punishable by between two and 20 years in prison.
