Dubuque Man Gets Probation For Punching Student at Library

A Dubuque man was sentenced to two years of probation for assaulting another man in the Clarke University library, resulting in a broken nose. 20 year old Kyle Wright was given a deferred judgment in Iowa District Court of Dubuque County after pleading guilty to a charge of assault causing serious bodily injury. With a deferred judgment, if probation and payment obligations are successfully completed, the record of the case is expunged. Wright also must pay a $1,025 civil penalty. Reports say that Wright assaulted a fellow student at Clarke University on October 11th in the library. The student reported that Wright punched him 10-15 times while he was sitting in a chair. The student then went to UnityPoint Health-Finley Hospital, where he was diagnosed with a broken nose and facial contusions.
