The Crawford County Jail held an open house for the public, on Monday, for their replacement project. The open house gave citizens the chance to get more details on the renovations from the commissioners of the project. Scott Fettig, president of Klein McCarthy Architects, says he noticed that the old jail needed a lot of work done after the inspection and says every part of the jail needs to be upgraded. The old jail is also not ADA accessible. The project will cost around $30 million dollars but officials will be asking to borrow $10 million dollars three different times over the next two years. The construction should last about 20 months and the construction should start in September 2024.
