Man Sentenced To 10 Years in Prison For Death of Lonnie Burns

A man was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to a robbery charge in connection with a fatal 2023 shooting in Dubuque. 28 year old Kenneth Reed of Indianapolis was sentenced in Iowa District Court of Dubuque County after pleading guilty to second-degree robbery in the fatal shooting of 31 year old Lonnie Burns, of Dubuque. According to reports,Reed was at Burns’ residence as part of a group there to rob Burns of drugs and money they believed to be in his home on February 7, 2023.  Also charged in connection with the incident were 25 year old Aaron Johnson, 31 year old Jermaine Bolds, 17 year old Tiarha Godwin, and 29 year old Terry Valrie. Johnson is seen on traffic camera footage raising a gun and shooting in Burns’ direction before the group flees the area. Burns later died of his injuries.
