Unemployment rates rose in most local counties in Wisconsin in July, according to recently released reports. In Wisconsin, Lafayette County’s unemployment rate was 2.4% in July and once again the lowest rate in the state, according to Wisconsin’s Department of Workforce Development. The county’s unemployment rate was 2.4% in June and 2.3% in July of 2023. Crawford County’s unemployment rate was 3.4% in July, down from 3.5% in June, and unchanged from a year ago. Grant County’s rate was 3.5% up from 3.3% in June and 2.5% in July 2023. Iowa County’s rate was 2.8% in July, up from 2.7% in June, and 2.5% in July 2023. Statewide Wisconsin’s unemployment rate was 3% in July, down from 3.2% a year earlier. In Illinois, Jo Daviess County’s unemployment rate was 5.2% in July, compared to 4.8% in June, and 3.8% in July 2023, according to the Illinois Department of Employment Security. Statewide, Illinois’ unemployment rate was 5.2% in July, up from 4.4% a year earlier.
