A new report from the Iowa Department of Natural resources details county-level deer population densities across the state and reports East Central Iowa counties’ densities are at a relatively stable level and vary based on land use. Clayton County was found to have one of the highest deer-population densities across Iowa. It also boasted the highest deer harvest statewide. Dubuque and Jackson counties’ populations are stable and increasing, while Delaware County’s population was among Eastern Iowa’s lowest.
