Man Tries To Throw Pot Of Boiling Oil at Dubuque Police Officer

Police say a man resisting arrest attempted to throw a pot of boiling oil on an officer in Dubuque. 42 year old Kurtis  Kies of Dubuque was arrested Tuesday at his residence on charges of assault on persons in certain occupations while displaying a dangerous weapon, assault on a person in certain occupations and interference with official acts, as well as warrants charging four counts of probation violation. Officers responded to Kies’ residence at approximately 4:40 p.m. Tuesday to serve him warrants. Kies remained in his home and refused officer announcements that he was under arrest. Officers entered his residence after receiving a key from the building’s manager. Kies then threw a pan of hot oil at a Dubuque police officer.
