Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds announced State Senator from Le Claire, Chris Cournoyer, as her new Lt. Governor during a press conference at the State Capitol on Monday morning. Cournoyer was officially sworn in shortly after Reynolds’ announcement. She has served in the Iowa Senate since 2019, representing the 35th Senate District. That includes parts of Clinton, Jackson, and Scott counties. While introducing Cournoyer, Governor Reynolds said Iowans can trust Cournoyer should she ever have to step in as Governor. Cournoyer replaces former Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg, who had served alongside Reynolds since 2017. He resigned in September to take a position leading the Iowa Bankers Association.
