The accused murderer of Mollie Tibbetts took the witness stand Wednesday. He claims he was kidnapped by two armed men and that those men put Tibbetts’ body in the trunk of his car. Cristhian Rivera said one of the men had a gun and the other had a knife. Rivera claims he did not see who killed Tibbetts. He testified the men ran away after he drove to a rural area, and admitted he placed Tibbetts’ body in the cornfield. Under questioning by prosecutor Scott Brown, Rivera confirmed his claims contradict what he told investigators in 2018. Rivera said he did not say anything about Tibbetts’ body because he was scared the men would harm him or his family.
